I have a few switches kicking around and am willing to sell them. I did this process to a friend's saw on the jobsite in about an hour. Then you can put the seals back on the bearings and reinstall the armateur. Once removed, lube the bearings well and spin them in the process to get the grease distributed. Just be very careful not to damage the rubber coated steel dust plate on the side of the bearing when you use a small flat screwdriver to gently pry this plate off the side of the bearing. If you have a fiar amount of mechanical ability, then you should be able to do this just fine. I fixed mine twice in 17 years by regreasing the bearings with lithium grease. The best way i can describe the dry bearing sound is it should sound similar to an old slot car when the saw is braking. Not sure where to go from here.Īny help would be appreciated? I have checked the wiring and all is according to the schematic which ereplacementparts was kind enough to supply. After replacing all motor parts and a new switch, I still have the same problem where the motor spins at half speed and in reverse (directly plugged into an outlet). After the fire the saw would not work properly (1/2 speed, and spin in reverse). While using the saw, the connection caught fire. I had an issue with what I think was a bad extension cord? The cord was one that had the lighted end which shows the power was on. Even a lawn mower shop will most likely do it for a few dollars.If that bearing fails it can destroy your armature gear and secondary gear reduction so don't take a chance with using the old bearing.Hope this helps.Good luck. You can find a cheap bearing puller at an auto parts store or bring the armature and bearing to a power tool repair shop and for a small fee the will do it. Hi caruha, always replace the armature bearings when the armature is out as AC motors are very hard on bearings. I have looked and the brushes appear to be in good contact with the armature. If I uninstall and reinstall the brushes the I the saw will once again start for a split second. If I pull the trigger again, nothing happens. When I take the brushes out and put them back in the saw starts for a split second, then stops.
I have replaced the brushes and have tested for continuity in the switch. I am looking for help with the repair of my DW708.
